connecting local artists, businesses,

makers and community. 

Join us in Downtown Hammond for the Hammond Art Walk, a Third Thursday experience featuring local artists, creative pop-ups, live demonstrations, downtown business stops, market vendors, food, music, and community connection. 

The Art Walk is part of Hammond Farmed & Forged and is designed to bring more foot traffic downtown, highlight regional creatives, and give residents a fun, walkable way to experience local art and small businesses.

Hammond Art Walk Chalk Art Competition

Transform the sidewalks of Hammond into an outdoor gallery

Watch downtown Hammond come alive as artists create original sidewalk chalk murals during the Hammond Art Walk. Whether you're an experienced chalk artist or simply enjoy creating, this People's Choice Chalk Art Competition is your chance to showcase your talent, connect with the community, and compete for cash prizes.

Artists will create live throughout the evening while visitors explore local businesses, shop the Farmed & Forged Market, and vote for their favorite artwork.

📅 Thursday, August 20

📍 Dan Rabin Plaza, Downtown Hammond

🕞 Check-In Begins: 1:30 PM at the Art Walk Information Booth

🎨 Competition: 1:30–5:00 PM

🗳️ People's Choice Voting: 5:00–6:00 PM

🏆 Winners Announced: 6:30 PM, with cash prizes awarded immediately following the announcement.

Downtown Hammond businesses are invited to participate as Art Walk stops.

 

Businesses may host an artist, feature existing artwork, offer a promotion, provide refreshments, host a live demonstration, or create an interactive experience for visitors.

Participation helps drive foot traffic, promote downtown businesses, and create a stronger connected experience throughout the Art Walk.

Introductory discount may be available for early Art Walk dates.

Businesses may participate by:

  • Hosting a featured artist

  • Requesting to be paired with an artist

  • Featuring artwork already displayed in the business

  • Offering a special promotion or giveaway

  • Hosting a live demo, activity, or experience

  • Becoming a Featured Business Stop
