Food Access

• Pre-packed “Feed a Family” bundles featuring fresh produce, eggs, and bread- all sourced from local farms and producers. Each box will include a recipe card with simple, family-friendly ways to use the items and will be distributed to SNAP shoppers.• $2 Chef Cash for all kids attending to spend on fresh produce, regardless of income, to encourage healthy shopping habits, food literacy, and early engagement with local food.

Community Fundraiser

• Each city market will raise funds for the Salvation Army (SA) in La Porte and Michigan City• On-site Giving Tables will collect hygiene products and monetary donations and share information for the SA, eliminating the need to manage or verify food expiration dates.• A marketing campaign/donation drive will be implemented to encourage shoppers and community members to “Sponsor a Family” through donations at the event or online, ie- a $25 gift feeds one family of four. Online donations remain open for one week following the markets.• Vendors are invited (but not required) to donate a portion of day-of sales to SA.

Community Resources & Education

• The market will feature local organizations and service providers in food access, health, and wellness.

• Partners such as NWI Food Council, Dunebrook, Healthy Families, and local community gardens are invited to share activities, educational materials on nutrition, cooking, and available assistance programs

• Resource booths will provide families with information on food budgeting, community meals, cooking classes, food preservation, and local garden programs.

• The goal is to make the market a one-stop event for families to access healthy food, financial relief, and practical knowledge that supports long-term food security.
