About Karrie

While on my way to become a doctor, I took a drastic turn and decided to major in Art instead. Metalsmithing and jewelry design to be exact. I loved the combination of art and science that metalsmithing offers. Since getting my master's degree I have moved the creative aspect to every facet of my life. I do not really think of myself as an artist, but more of a creatrix. I create in all that I do, whether I am creating one of a kind jewelry or needle felted objects, growing and creating new life in my garden, or creating a new bespoke dress for a special event or a typical afternoon. I create balance, harmony, and flow in my own home to foster creative expression. As long as my hands are creating, I am satisfied. I made the decision to start my own business in order to move away from working for and giving my precious time to others who did not appreciate what I had to offer, and instead dedicate my time and energy to something I could believe in.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS

Forged Curio creates one of a kind, hand-made needle felted wool animals for play, collections, and decorative uses.

FAVORITE PASTIME OR HOBBY

My "pastimes" or "hobbies" are more integral aspects of my life. Things I do, not just because I enjoy them, but because they are part of my cultivation of a sustainable lifestyle. I sew my own clothes to minimize my contribution to the waste of fast fashion. I garden and grow my own food because it is healthier and more environmentally friendly. I thrift and buy second hand to be more environmentally friendly as well. I also bake and keep lots of house plants for these reasons as well. They are all my favorite!

PARTY TRICK, USELESS TALENT, OR FUN FACT

I have perfect color vision. My regular vision sucks, but I would pass a Pantone color vision test with flying colors (pun intended)
