August at The Collective - Raising Funds & Raising Glasses

Written by Mandy Krickhahn // August 2025

August is shaping up to be full of energy, connection, and plenty to celebrate. From supporting local causes to shining a spotlight on the powerhouse women in our network, this is what being part of The Collective is all about.

Celebrating Our Members who are NWIIWA Finalists

The Northwest Indiana Influential Women Association (NWIIWA) recognizes and uplifts women who are making a lasting impact across our region. Being nominated, let alone named a finalist, is an achievement that speaks to dedication, leadership, and influence in our communities and industries.

This year, six of our Collective members are finalists, and we couldn’t be more proud:

  • Julie West — The Play for Jake Foundation

  • Sami Welter — Ella Jayms

  • Lauren Najar — Lauren Najar Coaching

  • Lauren Peters — Fringe & Ink Creative

  • Jennifer Burkhart — The Waxi Taxi

  • Mandy Krickhahn — The Collective

We’ll be honoring these women with our very own Awards Finalist Celebration, a night of music by Frank Ruvoli, toasts, and connection, hosted in partnership with member Kim of The Red Door. This isn’t just another gathering; it’s a chance for our members to show up for each other, share in a well-earned spotlight, and celebrate what it means to be part of a network that lifts each other higher. Members are invited to bring a +1 for an evening that’s going to be one for the books. Note- this event is not hosted by NWIIWA.

Farmed & Forged: Community Impact in Action

Our markets aren’t just about local food they’re a vehicle for real change in our community. This season, Farmed & Forged has already raised $1,000 for PFLAG of Michigan City and over $800 in monetary and tangible donations for the Boys & Girls Club of LaPorte County. These efforts are a testament to the power of small businesses, farmers, and neighbors coming together to make a difference. Every dollar raised stays right here in our community, strengthening the programs and organizations that serve our friends, families, and future generations.

Other August Highlights

We’ve got a full lineup of ways to connect, learn, and collaborate this month:

  • Business Brainstorming Hour - A supportive space for small business owners to swap ideas, share best practices, and problem-solve together. Whether you’ve been in business for years or are just getting started, this is a chance to connect with like-minded entrepreneurs and leave with fresh insights.

  • Social Media Strategy Workshop with Anthony Pagorek of Hey Charlie Studios - Learn the “Three-Headed Social Media Plan” to create organic posts that build trust, paid ads that get results, and stories that keep your business top-of-mind. Walk away with content ideas ready to post.

  • Trailyard Outpost Meet-Up - Join Joshua Sutton for an inside look at running a mountain bike and outdoor shop in today’s market, followed by a short hike on the trails. Come ready for inspiration, and maybe a little dirt.

Something New is Coming….

We’ve got another big win to celebrate, our brand-new website is on the way! Fellow TC member, Gabrielle from Avenue B Studio is working her magic to create a fresh, functional, and totally on-brand space for The Collective online. We can’t wait to share it with you soon, so keep your eyes peeled for the launch.

Why It All Matters

From celebrating milestones to building skills and deepening connections, everything we do this month is rooted in one truth: we are stronger together. The Collective is a community created for entrepreneurs, by entrepreneurs, and August is proof that when we show up for each other, amazing things happen.
